The shell of a 1920's grocery store, lit by a single skylight, is transformed into a contemporary art gallery. An iterative
conceptual design phase, through models, photographs, and diagrams, led to the development of a flexible "project
space" for a gallery. The space accomodates both day-lit and darkened displays of art, for environmental installations
and video projections alike. The interior unfolds as a layering of spaces, through three discreet galleries, and transforms from
destination to passage depending on the strategy of the installation.
