The Ferst Center for the Arts is the home for the performing arts on the Georgia Tech campus. In 2011, BLDGS was hired to complete a full space program and concept design study for the expansion and renovation of this 20-year-old facility, with a focus on increasing the presence and availability of the arts on the campus. In hand with a new TechArts campus initiative, which recognizes the critical interaction between art and technology in the advancement of research and curricula, this project was challenged to create "a beacon for the arts" at the heart of the campus, which would be "open, accessible, and always on."
